The WSU Equestrian Team is a student-run sport club at Washington State University. The team allows full-time WSU students to continue riding through college, and the opportunity to compete against other universities. The equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), where riders randomly draw horses to compete on in various classes. IHSA includes both Hunt Seat and Western disciplines with English flat and over-fence classes, as well as Western horsemanship and reining classes. We compete in Zone 8, Region 4 alongside CWU, OSU, UBC, UO, UW, & WWU.
Competing in IHSA enables riders to gain show experience at a reasonable cost and compete on a variety of horses, ultimately allowing them to demonstrate their horsemanship and adaptability. Practices are held weekly on team horses at a brand new facility in Moscow, Idaho. Lessons are held with our Western Coach, Ani Husaby, and English Coach, Laura Moore.
Our goal is to make members feel welcomed and supported, while providing a sense of family away from home. As always, Go Cougs!
Donations Equestrian sports are inherently costly. As an equestrian team, we are financially responsible for the care of eight to ten horses, as well as our travel and accommodation at shows. To financially support the team, we primarily rely on club dues and the generous donations from supporters. Below is a link to safely donate money to help our equestrian team. All monetary donations are tax-deductible. All donations and sponsors will be recognized in helping the success and growth of the team and its ability to participate in IHSA.
